FAQ: Emotional Support Animal Program

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects people with disabilities from discrimination, and the Fair Housing Act allows individuals with disabilities to request an emotional support animal as a reasonable accommodation. A psychiatric diagnosis and a recommendation letter are typically required by leasing agents and property management groups.

Your current ESA letter and assessment will be reviewed, and an updated letter can be provided for a fee.

If you’ve had an assessment with us in the past year and already have an ESA letter, we can issue an updated letter for your new animal at no extra charge.

Generally, an ESA letter is valid for one year from the date of issuance. The follow-up session is at a reduced total cost of $135. The ESA recommendation letter is waived. This is an annual occurrence.

Property rental management may require an updated letter closer to lease renewal, and a follow-up assessment can be scheduled.
