Child & Family Mental Health Therapist
Independent Contractor, 1099
Remote/In-Office
Clarity Counseling is hiring a Child and Family Mental Health Therapist (1099 Independent Contractor) to join our private practice in Leawood, Kansas. We’re seeking a compassionate, self-motivated clinician with Play Therapy (RPT) experience. Ideal candidates enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families, and bring their own unique style and expertise to their work.
We offer therapists competitive, percentage-based pay. Enjoy a modern, centrally located office, full EMR access, billing services, and insurance credentialing with accepted providers. We also offer marketing and administrative resources to help grow your caseload—and you’ll have the freedom to set your own work schedule.
Responsibilities
- Experience supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, values, and beliefs.
- Play Therapy trained or in-progress; skilled in using directive and non-directive methods.
- Comfortable in conducting behavioral consultations and assessments for new clients.
- Skilled in CBT, ACT, DBT, or similar evidence-based modalities
- Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to client needs.
- Knowledgeable in child mental health and family dynamics such as grief, divorce, anxiety, depression, and social-emotional challenges.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records.
- Committed to staying current with best practices and improving therapeutic skills.
- Build strong client relationships, especially with children and their caregivers.
- Use crisis management skills to ensure client safety when needed.
Practice Expectations
- A minimum availability of 5 client sessions per week.
- Willing to join in-network insurance panels (billing support provided).
- Ability to focus on your preferred client population and areas of specialization.
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Responsible for timely submission of clinical and financial documentation.
- Proactive in networking and seeking referrals to build your caseload.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or Marriage & Family Therapy
- Current and valid Kansas license (e.g., LCSW or equivalent)
- Experience providing behavioral and mental health counseling services
- Maintains active state licensure and professional liability insurance
- Committed to ongoing education and maintaining clinical certifications
- Proficient in using EMR systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive
